My personal blog. I'm a software engineer who's built a bunch of iOS apps, plus too many side projects I'm trying not to get distracted by.

About

I build software, write when something feels worth keeping, and I still think a lot like the strength coach I used to be.

Most of my career has been on mobile — about a decade of iOS. These days I'm at Snap, where I recently switched lanes into backend ML infra.

Outside of work, I spend time on side projects, Snowcubes with Nicole, and documenting the trips, meals, and moments I do not want to lose. Pickles shows up a lot too.

Background

I studied kinesiology at SUNY Buffalo and started out as a strength coach at NYU. A few years later I taught myself how to code, went through Flatiron, and got my first dev job through one of the athletes I coached.

From barbells to keyboards, the thread has mostly stayed the same: make things clearer, more useful, and worth coming back to.

Currently

  • Snap Inc.

    Backend — ML infra

  • Snowcubes

    Co-builder with Nicole

  • Personal Products

    Resplit, StrongYes

I'm drafting a longer note about the jump from mobile to ML infra — it'll live here once I finish it. For the full résumé, see LinkedIn or reach out.

Outside Work

Outside of work, it's mostly Nicole, family, Pickles, food, running, basketball, and trips back to Malaysia and Melbourne.

I write here when I want to remember something. The travel page is a good place to start.
